Jude the Obscure (Oxford world's classics)

Bleak and pretty depressing, but I love it all the same. I love always reading Hardy's observations of people.

Possibly my least favourite book ever. Annoying characters, incredibly dull.

Incredibly boring and Sue is the most annoying character in the history of the universe!

While this book is very well written, I found its ultimate tragedy more depressing than that of any other Hardy novel. Jude has a senseless obsession with Sue, an obsession that leads to the death of not just Jude and Sue but also of their children. A very dark book.
