Frances Burney's books have similar themes as Jane Austen, but she is SO MUCH BETTER. It makes me sad that she hasn't enjoyed the same popularity, but it's probably because her novels are LONG (this one, however, is a decent length).
I absolutely love this book. Fanny Burney is the literary mother of Jane Austen. Her dialogue is witty, her characters are well developed, and her plot is outstanding. If you're a fan of Austen, or if your just a fan of lighthearted romance, then pick up Evelina!
