The Annotated Anne of Green Gables

One of the best, if not the best, annotated editions of a novel I have ever read. It's easy to read, as the annotations are on the side of the text, and there are extensive appendices at the back with more background on a variety of topics - including the full-text of the recitation pieces! Beautifully illustrated. A must read and have for all Anne fans and scholars.

Annotations not all that helpful...

I own this but have honestly never read the entire thing. I've seen the movies more times than I can count, but I would like to read the true story... Favorite quip from the annotations: Anne was named with an 'e' as a joke! The author Lucy Maud Montgomery was irritated that everyone always spelled her middle name with an 'e', and decided that her character would make a big deal out of it...
