St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves

Imaginative, clever but not overwrought... it took me a while to warm up (when the story is about swamps and ghosts, I start thinking of V. C. Andrews or Scooby Doo). Russell's characters are mostly children left to fend for themselves, and they don't always do it well. A few of the stories left me completely stunned. Look forward to reading more by this author.

If you like quirky like I like quirky, then you'll like Karen Russell.

Beautifully vague. Strange fairy tales. Grey, blue, green. Beautiful imagery.

Weird, sometimes disturbing, magical short stories. Excellent.
