Icarus at the Edge of Time

Fascinating, but tragic.

One of the more interesting children's books I've read for my daughter. Concept borrows from Icarus -- but instead of flying too close to the sun, he flies a spaceship too close to an event horizon. The pictures were gorgeous (nebula, earth, galaxy) and lead to questions from my six year old.

A wonderful retelling of the Greek myth, with added scientific depth and knowledge. A creative way to introduce kids to Einstein's theory of general relativity.

It doesn’t work so well as a story, and Chip Kidd’s graphic design does nothing to help.
