Pretty good. A light read but the ending wasn't all that it could be.

Well, it's no Summer in Provence, nor is it to the level of any efforts following that work. I wouldn't even recommend this for those obsessed with fine wines. This is...half a novel, which lurches to a premature conclusion that isn't very interesting. Decent character development is left dangling, unused. Mayle has chops, but they deserted him halfway through this novel.

High points for creating a fun page-turner. However, it would seem Mayle was perhaps in a rush to finish and left a great many gaps in the plausibility that left wanting. I was, of course, amused in the manner he left the story, leaving room for a continuing series.

Don't bother. No suspense. Magically, everything works out perfectly for the protagonist. Not nearly as endearing at "A Year in Provence." This was a huge disappointment, although the wine sounded delicious.

Just like a glass of champagne -- light and sparkly! Fast read and enjoyed it a lot.

Not as good as "A Good Year," but exactly what you expect from Peter Mayle -- light, frothy, delicious and entertaining.
