Much better than I expected, and a more interesting person than I credited. His thoughts about Americans in the introduction and first chapter got my attention, and his candor (even often at his own expense) kept it. There are a few bits on British political minutiae that bored me, but not for long - he is a keen observer and no ideologue. These tales will amuse many, and will severely piss...more

An interesting but strange book. Unlike an autobiography of by a U.S. President for example, this solely focused on Tony Blair's political life, which can make for a dry read. Not surprisingly, he comes off as a sympathizer and protector of the neoconservationism ideology and never truly comes up with a compelling season to go to war. As an autobiography (auto-hagiography?) this is reasonably well-written and, although I don't agree with him, he makes a compelling case for the Iraq invasion. Ultimately any judgement about this is a political one. Let me state first and foremost I am a TB fan so it follows that I am keen to read this - I have nearly finished it and have enjoyed it very much it is very interesting and although there is a bit much of the "visionary" about him I still think that New Labour was and is the way to go - I didnt find the character assassination of GB nor any of the other derogatory passages about others that the...more

OMG, I am the first reviewer! Ok, I am biased cause I have liked Blair as PM. I like the book's style, shows the man behind the office. Maybe has gone overboard with explanations but then that's how you get to know the behind the scenes stuff; after all all these big cheeses have thin skin, not expected it. I think, seriously, that he makes a good case of the Iraq war but close to sounding too...more
