My favorite book I have read so far this year--I literally couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. The characters are deeply alive and you can't help but care about them. Though some of the plot developments are fairly obvious and the ending seems abrupt, it's an excellent read

I'm getting tired of books where one ( or more) or the characters is a female who regrets her marriage or her decision to have or not have children, yet does nothing about it, but instead is defensive about how sad their life looks to friends and family. Sullivan's first novel reminded me of the the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants for the college set of friends. The strength of their friendship is similar, defying the odds and breaking barriers in the end, yet still very real.

As the press proclaimed it this is chic lit for smart girls. I loved this book because I went to Smith and it truly did a wonderful job capturing the essence of the college. I have met the author and she is wonderful!

Four girls from the Smith class of '02 develop a close friendship as freshmen, and their stories are told through their college years and up to a wedding of one of them 4 years after graduation. How they cope with the issues facing 21st century women kept me interested and was eye-opening.

The characters didn't make sense and most weren't likable, which is strange as the author continually emphasizes feminist themes like how important it is for women to press for better images of women in the media yet then turns around and draws one-dimensional, self-involved female...more
