Good, not great Hiaasen. But he is always worth reading.

Just finished, and Carl Hiassen once again has not disappointed me. Some old friends return, some new friends are made, and the greedy get their just desserts. You will not be sorry, unless it is that you have to put the book down before finishing it.

Good, fast read--but not up to his usual plot twists. It's always about the amazing and bizarre characters, but this one didn't measure up to Skinny Dip, Double Whammy, Tourist Season, Sick Puppy, Basket Case, and others, all of which I would give 5 stars!

The very, very welcome return of Carl Hiaasen to adult fiction, and the very welcome return of Skink, former Fla. governor and environmental vigilante. I had actually not been hugely impressed by Hiaasen's last couple of adult novels, but this one shows that he's still got it. Hiaasen remains rivaled only by fellow Floridian Tim Dorsey's novels for crazy characters and lunatic laughter.

A massive train wreck. She has become so drug obsessed, that her mother hires a body double to stand in whenever she has an overdose to throw off the paparazzi. Hijinks ensue when the stand in is kidnapped by an...more

Another fun Florida romp from Carl Hiaasen. A great indictment of the celebutard culture. Chemo, the villain from Skin Tight, is back in a sympathetic role. Plus Skink goes to South Beach!!

More of the same. That is, another compulsively readable comedy thriller set in Florida. Less eco-self-righteousness than usual. Target of the mocking this time is sexy talentless pop stars and the paparazzi that track them. Two of Hiaasen's top characters, Skink and Chemo, make extended re-appearances. Ending is rather disappointing.

Wish I had one client like Clinton Tyree. Always fun to visit Carl Hiaasen's Florida. Always sad to leave it, and this time it was no different.

Fun book. There is a ton of local Florida flavor, goofy characters, and environmental love going on here. I always love anything by Carl Hiaasen.
