Detail rich with lots of factoids new to me. Would love to read a larger work on events from Nagasaki to first elections in post war Japan.

This is another fabulous history of the end of World War Two, although it suffers from a bit more implicit editorializing, especially about Mao and communism more generally, than Armageddon does.

Another great history by Hastongs that articlutes very nicely what the Far Eastern theatre of operations was like. Its a vast and wide topic so sometimes he has to be brief on some very interesting stories but its no fault of the author just the vastbness fo the story. Lastly He makes a clear and strong case as to why the Bomb was dropped. It was a different world and a very different war and...more
