Mind opening, modern poetry. Most are under a page and some lack any real direction, but within the book are some real gems of thought and imagery.

Very inventive, very funny at times. There are some very cliched bits; I wonder if their inclusion was meant to be skewering. If so, it's well done, just a little too often for my taste. Wonderful use of language and juxtapositions of history/mythology with pop culture.

The only reason I bought this is because Mark Haddon wrote it. It also helps that I like poetry. He's a quirky dude, that's for sure. I bet he'd be an interesting fellow to sit around and have a beer with. If you're a Haddon fan (like I am) you'll probably enjoy it.

Really beautiful writing. Haddon creates an amazing variety of imagery, which seems to be all over the place but somehow makes perfect sense. This is exactly the kind of poetry that I love. I'm so glad to see that Haddon can write poems just as wonderful as his novels.
