Very good book however, I was most interested in technical aspects and didn't realize that the author would get more into the political side of things.  Anyway, I'd recommend it to people who are interested in seeing what the government is up to... sometimes scary stuff.

I was already a little paranoid and suspected that our government or "shadow" government was up to this stuff but the extent to which private corporations work hand in glove with the NSA stunned me.  Bamford handles the subject professionally and with skillful narrative that had me turning pages late into the night. An excellent book that makes complicated technology easy to understand and takes you through the pre-9/11 events -- including what the US government knew and failed to act on -- like a novel. Then it explains how the NSA undertook its secret wiretapping program. A must-read for anyone who is concerned about government invasions of our privacy in this post-9/11 world.
