The first half took me 3 weeks to read and lulled towards the end. The second section took me 24 hours to read and barely gives you a moment to breath. It had influenced my writing before I even began to read it and will continue to influence it. My only qualms about it is that sometimes it gets bogged down in the visual description of setting. I can see reasons for that, wanting to honour England as it is "now" before it dies, but it becomes a nuisance when you are just wanting the plot to go forward. Overall, quite recommended.
