I started reading it in May and it has lasted me through the summer.

Gritty!

Some good stories. Mostly got it to see the style changes. A bit of a history lesson about pulps and their writers comes along with this book. Sorry to say, the "Women" section was lame, and while some of the stories were OK, the 20's, 30's and 40's didn't pay much attention to women as individuals. I can't fathom the presence of this part of the book.

More pulp mysteries than you can shake a stick at it. It's really a summary of the genre rather than any kind of best of collection. So, there are some real stinkers here, and they admit it. But, there are some classics as well and authors I'd never head of who I'm now trying to track down.

Awsome fun....gum shoes, dames and crooks..in a hard drinking kind of way.
