A very good insight as to what life was like in Iran, especially for women.I live in hope that life in Iran has improved since this book was written, but I have my doubts.

An insightful look into a women's experience of Iran's islamic revolution. To non-Iranian readers, this would be eye-opening and educational and to Iranian readers of this generation and past, it will be a reminder of what they themselves or their parents went through during one of the most significant transition periods in Iran's history.

I felt like I almost knew the author and heroine of the story after reading this book. Life in a harem is quite interesting.

An excellent autobiography of an inspiring and wonderful woman named Satti, an Iranian. Because of this book, I have a greater understanding of the history of Iran, as well as the relationship between the U.S. and the Iranian governments. Satti painted this picture well. A fast & enjoyable read! :)

I didn't want to put it down! This book is a glimpse into the past 100 years of Iranian history. If you want to understand Iran and its people read this book! Farman-Farmaian's memoir details the issues that have led Iran to where it is today, find out the dark role the USA has played in the country (it broke my heart, that's for sure).
