i finished this book in 2 days. however, this is definately not the book i was expecting when i got it. although i gave it 3.5 stars, i did not enjoy the book as much as i thought i would. i thought this was going to be a first hand look at the a-bomb we dropped on nagasaki. not so much. this book dabbled a little bit in the destruction for about a page or so. the rest of the book was about...more

i finished this book in 2 days. however, this is definately not the book i was expecting when i got it. although i gave it 3.5 stars, i did not enjoy the book as much as i thought i would. i thought this was going to be a first hand look at the a-bomb we dropped on nagasaki. not so much. this book dabbled a little bit in the destruction for about a page or so. the rest of the book was about american pow's in japan weeks after the bomb was dropped. it was interesting and told a side of the war i did not even know existed, but at the same time, it was not what i was looking for. i think the title and despription of the book was mis-leading...even though it won a pulitzer.   hide
