A little of everything, for everybody. Great cross-over of William Burns, America's real Sherlock Holmes, D.W. Griffith, beginning what would become Hollywood, and Clarence Darrow, the reknown attorney. Amazing info on the battle between unions and management, and terrorist bombings, right here in America. History does repeat.

Interesting story although I thought the Hollywood thread was a bit of a stretch. Other than that, an interesting piece

Little long in the end, but interesting, unknown history of a bombing in LA

interesting story...nice intensity but the small chapters make it a somewhat choppy read.

D.W. Griffiths, Clarence Darrow and Billy Burns, America's Sherlock Holmes, all overlap with the crime the century, the bombing of the LA Times building back around 100 years ago. The connections, especially with D.W., are tenuous, but the detective work is impressive. A quick read, not a deep read. Almost seems to be written perfectly for an adaptation by Hollywood.

Very forced book to make all the threads even remotely come together.

Not well written. More like pulp than history, but full of famous characters, none dealt with definitively. Good to see D.W. Griffith getting some props. He was more than "Birth of a Nation", not to say that that was not enough in itself, beyond the clan aspect we all find so offensive.
