I only wish the book gave more details into the actual games. This is an area I knew nothing about yet completely enjoyed the viewpoint of the avid gamer author. He hints that there is more to computer gaming than obsessive entertainment but doesn't dive into that subject. I agree that there is a lot there worthy of further writing and research. The sub-title of this book is why video games matter. I don't recall that even being addressed in the book. A more appropriate title might be "How they are changing" as that seems to be the central point of the book. Most of the book was forgettable as it was essentially a gamer's fond memories of the games they have played and the game designers they have interviewed. An interesting read,...more

A fun book to read from a guy who actually plays console games. Most of the chapters are about specific games so it helps if you are familiar with them. The thing I liked best about the book was that he talks about how these games make him FEEL. Pretty unusual.
