Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance

It was interesting to learn the background of our President. It's certainly unique! But the writing is dry in many places --especially his time in Chi-town. But if you want to learn more about the early beginnings that shaped the views of our President, I recommend this read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was really just a nice insight to the president - where he came from an influences that shaped his thinking. Definitely a worthwhile read.

I think that it is important for all of us to try to grapple with the mistakes, failures and success of our ancestors because it makes our journey ahead clearer. I would especially suggest that those of us who are just starting out on the path of life to read this and reflect on what brought us to this point. In today's times with a sense of each of us making our own destiny sometimes it is hard to remember that the past has any influence on who we are, but that is untrue and this book helps us to realize that indefinable and unbreakable connection is always there.   hide

I enjoyed this book. It had really thought provoking things to say about race, family and identity. It's well written. I think I get hung up in knowing "too much" about our president, having put him on a pretty high pedestal. It's never easy learning that someone is human.
