I love the way Pamuk writes even if it is a 532 page novel. All his novels start very well and by the one third of the book one wonders if it is greatest thing ever written but by the time it ends a little polish was off for me. Individual sequences in his lovely style are very good. The long Engagement scene was awesome. There is a certain section of the book which almost becomes a handbook of...more

Although compared unfavorable to Snow, this book nonetheless displays Pamuk's ability to create characters that capture the reader's interest even though they may not be particular appealing. This is a story of obsession that borders on the pathological.
