Great book of a collection of notes from one of the founders of democracy in the Czech Republic.

Not as good as Open Letters, but there are some true gems in here.

The most interesting part of this book is that it gives you a glimpse of leadership from the perspective of a unique individual -- a non-politician. However, if you're not well-versed in Czech history since the fall of the Soviet Union, the events he describes will seem esoteric to most.

a curious collection; it jumps all over the place. much of it is fascinating, though some of the "local" politics is a bit boring. many great passages that make it worthwhile

Havel is a fascinating and idiosyncratic man, and while he had a lot of excellent insights on life and the world to share, this book felt really lightweight...I wanted to learn more about Havel and the Czech Republic than I did...still worth a read, though.

This book has a bunch of great stuff in it, but it's organized terribly. Regardless it's worth your time if you like Havel.
