I wasn't really a big fan of this book, but a lot of the women in my book club did enjoy it. It was interesting to read a book that takes place in post 9/11 New York City, but I wasn't really a fan of the writer's style.

Original writing - managed to make cricket interesting even for someone who knows nothing of it and make it even a good metaphor for life

If you love NYC and think you know it, think again. Read this book and experience an incredible NY that will make you proud to be an American.

This is one of the best written books that I have read this year. O'Neill uses language in a fresh and arresting manner to talk about cricket, 9/11, the American Dream, marriage, friendship and much more. Highly recommended.

Wonderful writing, and a real sense of the fear that moved through lives after 9/11. (Though it's not really a 9/11 book.) In the end, though, I wanted more. It does such a moving job of getting into the narrator's head and experience that one expects more clarity of theme. many have commented on the similarities to Gatsby, both in writing and theme, but Gatsby had more to say, I suspect.

While at times the book was a bit arduous, O'Neill's use of language and perspective were interesting and enjoyable.
