Larning about the stories of the Beatles (and Eric Clapton) does not compare to someone who was there. So much of life is not the obvious facts and occurances, but the mood and tone that only a few know. As part of the inner circle, Boyd recalls some interesting events. Pitiful at times, her dependence on these guys who mistreated her, but that was her scene. I felt terribly for her as she was out of money, friends and fertility as she advanced into her 40's and as Clapton spiraled into alcoholism. I was moved as she kept thinking about her love for George throughout the book. Life is fun in the fast lane, but this book just reinforces (to me) that some good old-fashioned principles about life may be a bit less exciting but so much better in the long run. Values and morals rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition seem to be disregarded readily in today's culture, but I can't help but believe when I read books like "Wonderful Tonight" that those are what people really need. A true "trophy" girlfriend if ever there was one. Still trying to hang on to Clapton's fame in order to support herself and yet she has the audacity to comment in an interview that he looks "old".

Fascinating story of the love of George Harrison's and Eric Clapton's life. You get a look at The Beatles, the swinging 60's, and London. Pattie Boyd is a delightful and charming woman to read about.

Interesting only in that she was a Beatle wife and had the whole Clapton/Layla drama, which has been told and retold many times before. Not very skillfully written, LOTS of extra information about people nobody knows and I can't imagine anyone would be interested in. Not very much new info or insights into the parts of her life that make her name known - being married to 2 famous men....more

I'm sorry, she may be a lovely person to her friends and family, but the only reason she was able to get a book published about her life was because she married one incredibly famous man, then left him to marry another, and there's nothing new in this book about that.   hide

A great book for those of us who thought we wanted to be in Pattie's shoes . . . eye opening, behind the scenes look at the rockstar life.

It started out better than it ended but still, it was worth reading, as a cautionary tale. Okay, so maybe not cautionary (she made out like a bandit, really, after marrying both George Harrison and Eric Clapton) but cautionary in like look what a whiner you can become after living a privileged life for so long. So, overall, a good read but you won't really fall in love with the narrator or her drugged-out crowd of 'friends'. Okay, so this novel is trash, trash, trash but I enjoyed the beginning so far. She has had a pretty crazy life, beginning with her being raised in a very cold British household in Africa back in the colony days. Though, I'm rapidly losing patience with her pretty crazy drug use and her permittance of her friends' to do the same, even with infants and small children around.   hide

Her love affair with two of popular musics great guitarists is fascinating but her writing stinks....like mine.

Guilty pleasure. Wonder what she's got to snag all these talented musicians?

Immensely satisfying. Well worth waiting decades for!
