Intriguing and wonderfully detailed family saga. I love Hoffman's writing style and have read all of her books. This is her best yet.

Compelling reading though sometimes confusing to follow and some of the mystical inferences didn't work for me in this book.  Still was hard to put down and worth reading in my opinion.  Maybe one of those rare books where the movie may be better than the book!

Very engaging, aptly titled,  and thought-provoking story of three sisters.  Beautifully written despite, or perhaps because of, the simple vocabulary and short sentences.  Breaks you down and builds you up again, to borrow a phrase from the novel.

In a way similar to the movie Pan's Labyrinth in the blurred lines between fantasy and reality. A bit too sentimental in some parts, but overall an interesting take on the boundaries (or lack thereof) of love

Awesome book, one of the first books of hers I read.  Makes you think, creeps you out, makes you sad, all at the same time.  Following the story of these 3 sisters, & their lives, secrets, etc was a fascinating study of human nature & the bond of family.
