This book broke my heart. It was very well written and she was so incredibly honest with her feelings. I dare you not to cry while you read about her love for her husband, and when she describes the pain she felt upon finding out that her husband died in Iraq and she was suddenly a single mother. This woman possesses a tremendous strength in sharing her story.

This book is predominantly a catharsis for Dana Canedy. Her grief is poured out and etched onto the pages of this, her journal for her son. Although Dana tells us several times that Charles wrote 200 pages in a journal for his son, I feel very little of his material was shared with us. Frankly, I had hoped for more of his voice in this book.

Amazing, powerful, and sad. This is a really good book and it gives you a look into a family at war time.

Outstanding reading. It made me laugh and cry. I even felt anger. But Charles' committment to service and devotion to his men make the struggle of many familes real to me. You can't read it and not be moved.
