If you can make it past the 1st 150 pages, there're a few laugh-out-louds,a couple of woo-hoo!s, a short sob, and a " you go Mrs. Walker!"

Ugh. Not a fav. Glimmers of huomr, but I mainly felt the tedium of a very slow moving and well, convoluted plot. Convoluted cast of characters confused me too. Strange.

I didn't really like it. I considered not finishing it. No character I felt for. Too much "small-town" feeling, very claustrophobic that way. Interesting plot, but dragged.

Loved this book. Made me laugh, cry, sigh. It captures the intricate and complex lives and personalities found in academia in a way that makes human flaws endearing.

My brain finally got a break(when I was done reading the book!)Reduntant. I had to slow down and translate so much of it! I just wanted to be done with the book. Dry, boring. Shocking "climax" in the middle out of litterly nowhere, and never to climax again. Constant switch of characters was confusing..

She has an intriguing style, and the small town spirit of the college community she describes is pretty accurate, even if it is exaggerated. There is some great word play in the dialogue, especially among her professor types. A worthwhile read, but it wouldn't be t the...more
