The story is dry but I always enjoy reading about how people lived their lives. The story behind the writing of the book is also interesting.

It was like sitting down with a glass of wine with Julia herself, listening to her telling story after story. Also loved the photos taken by her husband.

A very well written book - as told by Julia Child to her nephew. Not only was her story fascinating, but her memory of the details of this part of her life is incredible. Loved the book! Certainly inspirational for those of us who might not have found our life's work!

Fantastic. A woman who finds her career at 40! Loved it. All foodies should read this. Anyone who remembers watching Julia on PBS should read it too.

I saw the movie right after I read this book. Movie was cute and book was okay. I didn't know the French dishes that were mentioned in the book, so couldn't really relate. Book was chronological and more fact-based than reflective and emotional. However, it gave a good overview of how Julia Child got into French cooking and of the development of her cookbook.
