more I hate to admit this...but I may put this one down without finishing it. I can't believe how much can be written and how much language can be used, without anything actually happening or without anything actually being said. Although there is enough to keep me engaged for periods here and there, every time I think the story is going somewhere, it doesn't. Case in point, in the first story, there is a time when one of the characters disappears, sending all of his friends in a panic. In a page or two, (or eight) the character reappears. He is fine, and there is no explanation given for his disappearance.
The author spends a lot of time with circumlocutions and great, detailed tangents that some people of higher intellect may appreciate, but I do not. I also feel that much of what he included in the body of his work was designed just to show the reader his intellectual prowess. Again, it's beyond me. After this attempted endeavor, I may have to read some "chick lit" just to decompress my brain.
