5.5 of 10. This is an OK presidential memoir. It is readable, but nothing to brag about. The book largely summarizes the key events/issues that happened during Bush's presidency, such as stem cell research, 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan, Katrina, African aid, Iraq again, Palestine, and the financial crisis. The events offered a refresher and some insight, but little inspiration. Bush didn't cover how...more

It was actually very interesting. The one thing I didn't like is how he would jump to different topics and then come back to the original topic.

Really good insights into what goes into making decisions at the President's level.

First book to read on my Nook. Interesting to know his perspective on things. I still think Iraq had WMA. The UN made us give them too much notice. My view of Tony Blair went to a higher level of respect. I may need to read more about him.

I got more than I bargained for with President Bush's book. I received some info about the man's character that I had suspected and was glad to find out was true. The book is laid out by subject and he gives what he calls the "decision points" that impacted the major events of his Presidency. It is not a chronological record of his term. He states that he doesn't cover everything and he...more

Interesting book. Interesting layout. Easy read. It's a politician's book so you have to take that into account. The one thing I did find different about the book, was that President Bush doesn't go overboard trying to sell the reader. It's pretty much this is what I did and this is why I did it. He does cheerlead for himself at times, but he never goes so far that it overshadows the...more

Book 1 of 2011. Interesting read to see the part of the historical decisions that the papers don't cover. While I may have disagreed with some of the decisions Bush made, at least I can now say I understand why he took those decisions AND I take some comfort in knowing they really were well thought out.

this was a decent read. when president bush left office, he was not a very popular president and was considered by many to be a bad president as well. reading this memoir helped me remember what a difficult 8 years we went through as a country and i feel as history unfolds, president bush will be more liked and be considered a good president in a difficult time.

Didn't learn too much but I enjoyed it. GW comes across as "above the fray" and generally astonished by the harshness of critics. For those that don't absolutely hate the guy, you should give it a chance. Also, while he was widely criticized for never admitting he was wrong while in office, he goes to great lengths in this book to explain why he did things the way he did and does readily admit...more
