more The premise of this book is highly contrived, but the sheer difficulty which Hawks encounters in his efforts to win his wager that he can beat all 11 members of the Moldovan football team at tennis makes for some gently amusing moments and a generally engaging read. The most interesting part of the book is the account of Hawks' stay in Moldova, but this is more for the danger which he faced there than for any inherent humour in the situations he encountered. Hawks writes exactly as he talks, which makes for an easy read, but there are times when his relentless attempts at wit wear a tiny bit thin.
