 Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night.  She’s come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Such a captivating series...very different from the Twilight Saga and I know everyone is getting into the Vampire craze but they really are great. I enjoy the Native American Spirituality it encompasses and don't be put off by the anti-God vibe it puts out at first...it definitely reconnects with Christianity on a positive level later (it just mostly frowns upon those in the Christian...more
 Such a captivating series...very different from the Twilight Saga and I know everyone is getting into the Vampire craze but they really are great. I enjoy the Native American Spirituality it encompasses and don't be put off by the anti-God vibe it puts out at first...it definitely reconnects with Christianity on a positive level later (it just mostly frowns upon those in the Christian world that have behaved negatively). But this book continues the story with a huge betrayal that will shock readers and pull you in to figure out more of what is going on at the House of Night. Mysterious and fun.   hide

Is it over yet? Cast and Cast's series drags on, continuing their desperate attempts to stretch what would have made the plot for one fairly decent novel into enough story for a series. The result is a bunch of hair-twirling filler where the main character bemoans the difficulties of having three hot guys interested in her. Tough life, that.  A novel almost entirely lacking in emotional...more
 Is it over yet? Cast and Cast's series drags on, continuing their desperate attempts to stretch what would have made the plot for one fairly decent novel into enough story for a series. The result is a bunch of hair-twirling filler where the main character bemoans the difficulties of having three hot guys interested in her. Tough life, that.  A novel almost entirely lacking in emotional resonance (at one point, Zoey mentions how gross it was when a student died horribly in front of her - gee, I'm sure they're sorry about the mess...), and completely lacking in charm. Shallow and obvious, though I'll allow two points for coming up with at least one decent haiku.   hide

I think that at some stages in the book the writing gets a bit immautre? and sometimes the group of friends (Erin, Shaunee etc) just seem a bit of a cleche. However, i was able to overlook those slight setbacks because the plot line was pure awsome! I was devestated in a certain part of the story (Wont ruin it for those contemplating reading it), but am very eager to move onto the...more

i hate to admit it..but i actually cried when i've read Chapter 22!!i really can't put it down..but i felt its a bit annoying when the author keeps on mentioning what happened in the previous book..i mean..we already know what happened..and no one would jump to the 2nd book of the series without actually reading the 1st book!

I wasn't overly thrilled with the first book but pushed on as I'd heard good things about the series - I am glad I did as I think this was much better than the first as has got me captivated now and I am looking forward to starting the third one "chosen" .... looking forward to seeing how the whole Erik, Loren & Heath thing turns out ..... oooooh
