I love this book. Read it cover to cover in an afternoon. I never do that! Poignant and touching.

I read it in one day so it is short. Not particularly appealing to those that aren't interested in music or stories about dealing with mental illness.

Mark Everett's story should be a terrible one - his father, sister and mother all died early in his life - but it doesn't read that way. With a simple, straightforward writing style, he tells of his complicated family and his rise to musical prominence (without lapsing into self-pity) in this charming, enjoyable memoir.

Outstanding. Read it. If you have not listened to "The Eels" before, do yourself a favor and go buy all of their albums. I recommend "Electro-shock Blues," first.

Considering that E is someone who is generally very private about his life, he certainly did not hold back. I absolutely LOVE E - so happy to be finally reading his book!

Fantastic read. Far more interesting than most musician's biographies - brutally honest and you might not always agree with what he has to say but undoubtedly you care about he has to say.
