Oh god, the details in this book bring tears to my eyes. The 1st chapter broke my heart and the accounts of "pet hunting" took what little i had left in my heart. I need to visit this place to feel complete after reading these stories.

The tragedy isn't as touching as their insight into what happyness has come to mean. Heartbreaking book.

Hard, intense read. But, shows how vitally important it is to know the brutal truth of this disaster and to listen to and remember its victims.

This is an amazing book. I cannot even read the prologue without weeping."That night I dreamed he was calling out to me in his sleep: 'Lyusya! Lyushenka!' but after he died, he didn't call out to me in my dreams anymore. Not once."

I read this book over the summer. It's not about facts and numbers but the emotional and physical horror this accident created. It was heard not to cry in some parts. A must read for all our world leaders!

A wonderful collection of accounts. This book ignited my interest in Chernobyl itself as well as unseen killers (radiation, biowarfare, etc). It's terrific, really. I'd highly recommend this book.
