A cute, charming, easy book to read. The story is cute and interesting and if you're looking for a cute little love story in the teen section that isn't about a girl falling in love with a vampire (thank God I'm sick of the vampire romance already) then this is a good book. There's still the supernatural but at least it's not telling teenage girls they should be falling in love with the blood sucking undead.   hide

bought this book because reviews said it was good and I was very disappointed. The writing was a bit choppy and there wasn't a whole lot of description. To me the characters were one dimentional and boring. The book should have been longer, more background story and everything was a little too neat. I won't read the others in the series because I just don't care about the characters that much

This book was definitely not what I expected it to be! Being a huge fan of the Twilight Saga books, I was going into this book thinking it was going to be sort of the same thing. NOT AT ALL! Without trying to give out any spoilers, let's just say that if you enjoyed the romance between Bella and Edward, then you'll love the romance between Damen and Ever! Damen's "mystery" that he keeps from everyone keeps you reading chapter after chapter! I kept guessing what he was and I was WAY off! Surprise, surprise! And just like in the Twilight Saga, there is an antagonist, just as James was the antagonist in the Twilight Saga. I thought this was a funny, suspenseful, romantic book! Trying another teen geared novel with this one...I find it so interesting to see what they give kids to read these days. No vampires or warewolves in this one...but it does have immortals. Anyway, the storyline isn't something mind blowing and new, filled with teen angst, goth kids, gay kids, snobby kids, quiet kids, etc. etc. etc. It flawlessly fills every stereotype you can think of,...more

Young readers will enjoy this story because in its most basic state it is entertaining. I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series though, so if you're a most enlightened young reader you may want to look elsewhere to get your book fix.   hide

Here are my thoughts on this book: It was obvious that the author borrowed some ideas from Twilight and sort of rearranged them a bit. That in itself didn't really bother me too much. I've read plenty of books that have borrowed ideas from others. However, I hold writers up to a certain moral standard when they are writing for teens. It is clear in the book that if the main character feels ready for sex at 16 that the adults in her life see nothing wrong with it, and neither does she. And although she doesn't end up having sex I think it sends the wrong message. Also, it was just something that happened in one chapter I think, but there was under-aged drinking in the book, and that bothered me. True the main character learns her lesson, but her best friends never do. I also thought that the love interest character lacked a little substance. He talks her into skipping school a few times (he doesn't really have to be there because he's already been). I just think that if he really loved her and had her best interest at heart he would want what is best for her, and encouraging her to act in irresponsible ways doesn't jive with that. Clearly the author tried very hard to make him a lot like Edward but he's certainly no Edward in that regard. I know it sounds like I didn't like this book, but I actually did like it. I enjoyed the story, and there were times when I couldn't put it down. I was just disappointed in a few things in it. This is the first book in a series and I would like to read the next one. I am really hoping that the author doesn't taint the other books with teen sex.   hide

Wasn't the greatest book in this genre that I've ever read ... Does not compare to the twilight series in my opinion. Just about to start the second one and am hoping for an improvement. The market is flooded with these types of books and it seems like they all take bits and pieces from each other ... oh well ... off to read Blue Moon now.

One day the unbelievably gorgeous Damen arrives at her school, and Ever's pshychic tendencies are put to the test when confronted with Damens ability to sooth her gift away from her. With this, Ever spends more and more time trying to be with Damen, but can't ignore the fact that there is something very eerie about him... And there is! But it's for you to find out for yourself. A great quick read, and yes... for all those who have read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, this resembles it a little, but still only touches the surface with the characters. I enjoyed it, and will look forward to the second book which is due out July 09.   hide

Well, the review sounds like the ideas are borrowed from Twilight (high school, mysterious handsome rich guy) and The Southern Vampire mysteries books (Sookie Stackhouse's ability to hear thoughts and only how Bill Compton can relief her from the noises).
