Also the protagonist is just introduced and not deeply understood. The series is a story of atrocity and revenge with our hero hunting down and killing five crime lords across the whole of a galaxy and slowly realizing his deepest, most private fear of becoming ever more like them in the process.Like all Jack's books it is full of color, history and atmosphere. He is the only writer who makes the settled galaxy have real depth. The human societies are often older and more alien than any other author's hive of tentacled monstrosities in their motivations and ideals.   hide
