This is one of those classic books that is just a refreshing change of pace! The author is such a great story-teller that I couldn’t put it down. Additionally, he’s so funny that I found myself laughing out loud all the time. It gives you a sense of what it was like to live in Yorkshire before WWII, which must have been an interesting place. One of my friends is a Veterinarian that works on farm animals as well as small animals. He’s read all these books and we joke about how he could write a couple of books with his funny experiences today.    hide

He is a fine writer, and shows an interesting look into his life.

I've read these books several times over, and I still love rereading them. They're uproariously funny, touching, and insightful. Another great thing is that you can pick one up any time and just start reading a chapter, it's the perfect book for a rainy day.
