the most recent book in the twilight series. i loved the fact that Edward is still there – of course he is,-- what is there not to love? but this piece is weird somehow because i find Bella confused and self- contradicting. why could not she just choose on who she really like between Jacob and Edward (if i were Bella it would be very easy for me, no need to think).i finished reading this novel along with the other two in the series but i made the review late because this is the least commendable among the three. i mean, i loved the twilight best then new moon or eclipse, i don't know, maybe they are both equal in rank. i feel this way about it because Edward is like set aside by Bella. OK. given that she love Edward in a way that she could never love Jacob but still why can't she stop hanging out with Jacob, is she just confused or a flirt. i hate her!!! if she can't be with Edward then i would. or others would, helloooo, there are many of us who wants him. anyhow it is fiction so i should not be carried away with my thoughts and words and feelings or whatever. honestly i can't remember one highlight in the third book. wait. let me think first..one..two..three..four..ooohh.. now i kind of remember, this is where Bella goes to either La Push or to her house but Edward and her are still together and she can't still get Jacob out of her life. so the highlight is the group of vampires that Victoria formed to hunt Bella. see, Victoria is the mate of James which Edward killed back at the first part of the book. Victoria believes that her mate's life is equal to the life of Edward's mate. in short she is up for Bella and she desperately wants vengeance. the thing is, it might be hard for her doing that considering that there are two kinds of species (or kind,whatever you call it) that guard Bella, the Vampires and the Wolves. the cold blooded and the warm blooded. the bloodsuckers, as Jacob puts it and the dogs as Edward says it.what i do not quite succumb in is why,oh, why do Bella allow herself to hang out with Jacob if Edward's there. i see that Edward's so understanding but Bella's being unfair to him. she even kissed Jacob back. but Edward knew it because he could read Jacob's mind and inside that stupid mind is the kiss. but Edward simply ignored it and instead of snapping around like what would most people do – so OK i get it, it is because he is not human – he instead forgive Bella and he even told her that if Bella wanted to he could just live and have a normal life, have a family, grow old, be happy with whoever guy he chooses. so unselfish! see? what did i tell you. (i would never ever do that in a million years). the scene where Bella saw the future with Jacob is another part i hated the most. and if by chance the breaking dawn would let Jacob end up with Bella i just wish it wouldn't be filmed anymore. hah! so bitter.in fairness to Bella's situation, it is hard to decide whether to accept eternity or not. mom used to ask me that question when i was a child and i would say I'd rather have a life forever than to die early. but now, i couldn't be so sure anymore. what am i supposed to do if i am already alone? look at the movie Tuck Everlasting (i would make a review of that one, watch out!) the family lived forever right, so when the guy there fall in love for a girl who has a normal lifetime, he ended up seeing her grow old and die, he can't do anything about it because the girl does not want eternity. because sometimes a lifetime is enough to make you show love and be loved in return. i am so excited for the fourth book! coming sometime in August!i wonder whose point of view be used for the Breaking Dawn. i mean, Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse obviously used Bella's point of view but how about the Breaking Dawn? in the last chapter of the Eclipse, Jacob is the one speaking, it is hard to understand that, so would Edward be out of the way then? because if Jacob is to speak then how maybe he would not include Edward in it, maybe only himself and Bella. This is probably my favorite in the Twilight saga. The characters are fully developed and learning the intricacies of both the vampires and the wolves makes for great reading. This is the book where all the characters seem increasingly real, not just Bella and Edward (or Bella and Jacob.) This is probably my favorite in the Twilight saga. The characters are fully developed and learning the intricacies of both the vampires and the wolves makes for great reading. This is the book where all the characters seem increasingly real, not just Bella and Edward (or Bella and Jacob.) I also thought the relationships in this book were the most interesting out of the four books. The action subplot is also the strongest in this book. The first two and the last one are somewhat contrived (ie the "Big Misunderstanding) where the reader comes away thinking that some of the characters seem retarded. ie Spoilers Book 1: Bella going off to save her Mom (from a vampire) without any backup. Yeah, because he was really going to follow through on his word to let her go. Not that it mattered, because it was a videotape anyway. Book 2: Edward's going to kill himself because Jacob told him her dad was at a funeral and Edward doesn't think to ask who died, just assumed Bella jumped off a cliff because she couldn't live without her man. Romeo and Juliet anyone? Book 4: I actually liked the vampire baby, but the volturi was over the top for me. Honestly, they couldn't have sent an email explaining and sent a few pictures along? BTW, I really did like the other books because the emphasis was on the relationships among the characters, not the action. Like I said, it was a subplot in the books.   hide

I have read the Twilight series and I found it amazing... Stephenie Meyer is an amazing writer. She really brings her characters to life as she intended to do in the first place.. Any way I can't wait to watch the movie in December of Twilight.. They did an amazing job on the cast. Eclipse is a great book I really enjoyed reading. However I am a big Bella and Edward Fan I am so glad that she choose him in the end. I had a hard time with Jacob he was such a wedge driver and Edward at first was sort of but then he tells her that he doesn't want to drive a wedge between he and Bella so that was good.. I really felt that he was afraid of loosing her all because when he left and Jacob was there. However Bella choose him when she went to Italy to save him.. Their relationship is intense but they are made for each other and I am glad that Jacob finally saw that and realized that she couldn't live with out him. I do want Jacob to be happy and Bella just needs to realize that she can't make him happy by being there because then she is not happy and she needs to stop feeling guilty on focus on herself. Finally you can't make a relationship work built on Guilt. I am glad that Bella truly sees what and who she wants in the end after all the chaos was over and she was able to really breath and think. I love how Stephenie put the Anne of Green Gables reference in the books...   hide

So far, the best of the series. I have yet to read Breaking Dawn. Stephenie Meyer continues to intertwine the lives and choices of Bella, Edward & Jacob, which made this book hard to put down. The first half of the book was lighthearted and had me laughing more that I would expect since the first 2 novels centered around the intense romance/break up between Bella & Edward. The human lives of Jasper & Rosalie also help explain their significance to the series. The book ended perfectly, although it was the saddest part that I've encountered since reading Twilight. It was perfect that Meyer thanks her favorite band, as well as some others that she discovered while writing this book because I would listen to every band she mentioned while reading. She creates one of the most unlikeable female leads in existence. Bella Swan is the most annoying, whiny, self-absorbed character in existence. Every time she is with Edward, Meyer goes on and on for pages on how perfect Edward is, what a gem he is, how she is so lucky he is her boyfriend, and how she wants to become a vampire. It took every ounce of willpower I had not to flip through all those chapters (which would have been a good chunk of the book). The stories behind Jasper and Rosalie's past were probably the most redeeming part of the book. I also truly appreciate how Meyer thinks Edward is better than previous male leads, and shoves it down our throats by comparing him to not only Romeo, but Tristan and Heathcliff. Ugh. Just stop. No seriously, stop. Edward is not better than any of those male leads. He is abusive, manipulative, self-absorbed, and shallow. And Bella ... way to set feminism back to the dark ages. There is no way any self-respecting female would allow her supposed best friend to nearly sexually assault her twice, and let him get away with it. I also found it shocking that Meyer would actually attempt to play that supposedly serious scene with humour, on not only Jacob's part, but her dad as well. We also see the sexism and male-superior attitude in Rosalie's story as well. Also, Bella seriously must have an IQ of next to nothing, because it took 400+ pages for her to finally establish a connection between the Seattle murders, and Victoria? Mind you, that probably works well, considering she must have failed a grade in order for her to be graduating when she is eighteen going on nineteen, and not seventeen going on eighteen. But, that is just a technicality. I am slightly shocked that the racism was not as obvious as it was in the other two books. Interesting point of view switch in the Epilogue to Jacob's, but that is about all that I could find halfway decent with the book. 1.5 out of 5.   hide

To say that this book was a disappointment would be an understatement! I understand why some reviewers are quitting the series after Eclipse. I bought Eclipse and Breaking Dawn together, so I'm I plan to read it, but I'm dreading what might await me. I'm holding out hope that Bella will somehow redeem herself, although I'm not holding my breath on that one. I don't see HOW that is possible. Someone as fickle as Bella doesn't a second chance ...from the readers, from Edward, or Jacob. Period! I don't know if the author threw the last bit in for a little controversy, but I'm sorry to say that it backfired and all she accomplished was ruining what could have been an unforgettable vampire series.   hide

First of all there is no mystery in the book.I knew from the first that it was Victoria who was doing all those crazy stuff.I don't know why the Cullens were so late to realize it.How dumb they were really?When they found out someone was in Bella's room and took her shirt I thought now they will definitely understand that it was Victoria.But no.They just played dumb.When they finally got it at almost end of the story I was relieved to know that they were not totally brainless. Other than the "Killing Bella Mission" only one other thing in the whole story was Bella's dilemma.She whined and whined throughout the whole book about whom she had to choose and how she couldn't live without having both of them as her boyfriends.I came close to almost crying in frustration.She was just pathetic.Bella was not very beautiful,not athletic,not good in studies.She was not good at anything.I just don't get why everyone was falling in love with her.Finally after lot of whining and crying she chose Edward which I also knew she will do from the first. I only read the book because Edward was in it.If he wouldn't be in this book I would have just abandoned it before finishing.I loved Twilight so much.I just cant get over it no matter how many times I read it.And this one,it just spoiled all the magic of Twilight.   hide

Every installment in the Twilight series thus far has had its faults, but it was in Eclipse that said faults really started to work my nerves. The first half of the novel is quite dry and meandering, with nothing really happening to move the plot significantly forward. Worse is when the characters -- which the series, lacking action and strong plotting, relies on for most of its appeal -- begin to wane in their believability (which was somewhat sketchy almost from the start) and, for this reader, their likability. Jacob Black in particular suffers the most as he is re-characterized by the author to be the worst example of an annoying juvenile male who thinks primarily with his private parts. This trend began in New Moon but really takes hold here, making Jacob almost unbearable to read. However, the payoff of the action sequence at the end is actually worth waiting for, for a change -- the reader gets to be IN the action instead of rolling our eyes as its clumsily written around by the author. Although this is almost negated by the author's anti-premarital-sex message in the latter portion of the novel, which comes across somewhat hamfisted and, for this reader, more than a little preachy and distasteful. Here's hoping the fourth book makes up for the relative mediocrity of Eclipse.   hide

She colapses all the time yet is suppose to be "so strong" I do not see how Edward or Jacob could find anything appealing about her and find it very difficult to believe that they would have this great love for such auninteresting, self centered, ungrateful twit And I found the writing in this book compared to the other three to be horrible. All anyone ever did was roll their eyes, in their stone granite bodies or russet coloured fury ones. That being said I did enjoy the last epilogue through Jacob's eyes. I like Jacob even though he really annoyed me sometimes in this book. Honestly I seriously can NOT believe Jacob or Edward could possibly love such an empty character as Bella. This has been my least favourite of the series so far. And I haven't been a fan of the other two.   hide
