more Good so far. Forester wrote this book and the previous one first, then several more books about the latter half of Hornblower's career, and then went back and wrote about the first half of his career. Forester made Hornblower a very unlikeable person for this and the previous book, and I have found it hard at times to go back to reading it. This is unfortunate because Hornblower is much more likeable in the first five books, and I delighted in reading about him. I can only hope that Forester progressively made Hornblower less of a self-critical, doctrinaire seaman for the remaining books in the series.
