Malcolm Gladwell desperately wants to be Steven Leavitt in this book, but just doesn't pull it off. Read the first chapter and you have the whole book -- only the other 8-9 chapters are him going "This happened, and SEE OMG HERE! HERE is the TIPPING POINT! Isn't it AMAZING?" And that gets old really fast. Neat concept, poor execution.

The book is amazing!! Especially when it does touch base on the retail achievements affected by the social epidemics and because it is based on an actual research done and published. Represent fact in an easy way ......

Very informative and good read. Some interesting things to think about and it made alot of sense. I particularly liked the use of Case Studies. I would probably have given up if they weren't there. It is one of the few factual books that I couldn't put down.

I loved the book because it flirts with ideas and "systems" that resemble Chaos theory, though I was disappointed at the complete lack of any reference to it. The breakdown of consumer types was interesting and poignant. It is useful for organizing your mind around these ideas, but...more

Pretty interesting material. Must keep in mind that Gladwell is a writer, not a psychologist.

This was an informative read; fascinating actually. You will recognize the people in his book.

Marketing is possibly the most evil force on this planet, yet Gladwell humanizes it and even makes it palatable in its distilled form. Not the masterwork that Blink is, but still an interesting look inside how we are wired.
