Maniac Magee

A fun story for young adults. Great for teachers who want to encourage kids to look beyond race when choosing friends.

Not my favorite Spinelli tale, but still has his magic. I listened to the audio CD and didn't particularly care for the reader. It's a good book for children, with a good message.

Should be a book everyone reads.

This is a great read for 4th grade level or higher. The messages are wonderful! A young, orphaned, run-away boy struggles with racial societal views different than his own as his relationships suffer. Cleverly written to entertain traditional child-hood fears and the braveness one requires to confront them.
