The Elfstones of Shannara (The Sword of Shannara)

I love the characters most of all in this story. My favorite is actually, Eretria. I love the new types of magic found in this world. Great Job Terry Brooks!!

The very first time I read this book (1984), I wept at the end such was the power of the final few chapters. And I agree with Brooks, the greatest "magic" remains in the giving of yourself for others. This book has everything - a pitched battle between good and evil, a quest, a love story, and the power of the "weak" to overcome the strong. A very good read.

So far a great second in this series. Twist and turns on every page. Look out here come the demons of old!

This book is just as good as the first. It's nice that is takes place in a different part of the Shannara world. You get to see new things and places. The storylines are completely different but you can see similiarities between some of the characters from this book and the last book. The end is absolutely gut wrenching but makes perfect sense.
