If you have read Interview With a Vampire, then The Vampire Lestat (in my opinion) will be a good read as well. Notice that I didn't say sequel. The book, technically, is a sequel. But it goes before and beyond the events of Interview With a Vampire. Anne Rice delivers a fantastic novel about one of the essential characters in her Vampire Series. It's got as much of the wonderful vampire stuffs as Interview and more. In my opinion? Just as good as Interview if you had read that. You might not have to read Interview first, but it can't hurt...unless you give into the charismatic and elaborate character that is Lestat. Watch out for those teeth!   hide

Very good, but lacks the urgency and poetry of her first novel. I may be one of the few readers to prefer Louis to Lestat, as I find the latter insufferably shallow and predictable, but the revelation of Marius' past and the origins of the vampires makes up for the title character's incessantly adolescent behavior.

This book is amazing! The writing is so good and the character of LEstat is so deep and complex, you really feel his pain at the suffering he goes through during his moral struggled with himself, you want to fry with him. I though it was much better than Interview with a Vampire, in the end, Lestat is jsut a much more fascinating character than Louis.
