If you're going to read this book for the first time, I'd suggest you have a Tolkien reference book handy. I like "The New Tolkien Companion" by J. E. A. Tyler, but there are others available. If you can get through this book you'll find that Tolkien has created a mythology all his own, and it may inspire you to seek out other works that fill out the mythology.   hide
