carl sagan is one of the few scientists whose passion for the subject gifts him the power of beautiful and thoughtful description that borders on storytelling.

It is no wonder that Dr. Sagan won the Pulitzer Prize for this book. Simply put, it is one of the best books I have ever read, if not the best! Mr. Sagan can take the most mundane portion of a scientific topic, transform it into something so incredible and interesting you'll want to study it for the rest of your life. He is the master of romantisicing science! 5/5 Thumbs way...more

I gave this one as a gift to my father and I ended up reading it before he did. As with most Sagan material, this has his particular style on laying out science facts on layman's terms, the speculations and hypothesis are thought provoking. Have a few friends that were Sagan's alumni in school... always said they were very lucky to have had the experience of attending ANY of his classes.

This is a fantastic book on human intelligence. I've read many books of this sort, and only Carl Sagan mangages to include both tangents and thoughts as flawlessly and as easily as he has. He has made this interesting, provided wonderful images and analogies, and captures your interest and doesn't release it until the very end. A must read!
