Ahh... The Vampire Chronicles. Anne Rice really knows how to craft the perfect read. Queen of the Damned was my favourite out of the four listed. Delving into the who, why and what of vampires gives you such a fantastic understanding of the family tree of Akasha - Queen of the Damned. I would also like to point out that if you are a fan of the movie, it was not true to the book at all. Do yourself a favour and read the book and you will have a greater appreciation of Lestat, Louis, Armand and Marius. (And don't forget the Talamasca!)   hide

I have read all of the vampire chronicles up to Blood and Gold, the story of Lestat, Louis, David, Daniel, Marius, Armand and Mahret are spell binding. I have read all of the vampire chronicles up to Blood and Gold, the story of Lestat, Louis, David, Daniel, Marius, Armand and Mahret are spell binding. By far the best is The Vampire Lestat, if only they had made this film instead of the farce that was the Queen of the Damned which didnt explain a thing about the beginning of the Vampire history. The first 2 are the best and The Tale of the Body Thief is simply a brilliant bit of writing - amazing that Lestat craved the human life but when he actually got it he couldn't cope with it. 'Interview' and 'Lestat' are two of my fave reads and they both capture a freshness in the world of vampires that many others fail to capture. But by 'Queen' I was bargaining with myself to turn the pages... I recommend reading 'Interview' to test these waters - it is fabulous (and makes the film look like the...more

I actually want to give this a higher star rating but can't sue to the las 2 books.
