I wanted to really love this book, and I did like it a lot, I just can't quite gush about it. I found it interesting, I learned a lot about the catholic church during the 9th century, and it was particularly interesting to learn what state Italy was in at the time. It just took about 150 pages before I felt like the book really got going. I think the subject was thoroughly researched, and most of the story was engaging. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested.   hide
