I originally read this book in 11th grade along with the other 4 original Chronicles (Interview, Lestat, Body Thief).  

I think Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicle novels are the "gold standard" when it comes to the genre and would recommend then to anyone who is in to bloodsuckers.

My very favorite of the Vampire Chronicles . I loved the story line and the narrative about how the Vampires came to exist . I don't get tired of reading it .

Third book in the Vampire Chronicles. 

Lestat is back, narrating another book and breaking more rules. Lestat traces his vampiric roots back to ancient Egypt and we meet the first vampires, now as still as statues, seemingly unaware of the world around them. Lestat wakes Akasha, the Queen of the Damned, and sets an ancient prophecy in motion. Marvelous!

This book was very painful to read. I forced my self through just to get the story. I loved Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat... 

The main story was good, but I just hated Queen of the Damned.  The book should have more centered around Maharet and Makare and done with out the stupid side stories about unimportant characters, made up just for filler.
