This book was so exciting. I read it in paperback & could not put it down. I read it all in a couple of nights.

Technically this is not a Vampire Chronicles book. This book was one of two "New Tales of the Vampire" books that Rice wrote; it was targeted to teens, so this is a book which is toned down in several respects for a younger audience. The writing is still uniquely Anne Rice, though not as meticulously detailed as her other vampire novels. Also, had this book been written as a true Vampire Chronicles novel, it probably would have been more, shall we say, R-rated. Still, this is another good story of a great vampire, and one to be enjoyed.   hide

Classic Anne Rice. Excellent thought-provoking book. Vampire-lover or no, the historical information is amazing.
