This book is way better than the movie. The alternate story line is much more intriguing and it really shed the light on the emotional struggle that eventually gave birth to one of the most influential characters in the star wars universe

If you have seen the movie please do not let it turn you off of this book. It was everything the movie was not; well written, insightfull and most importantly, made sense. Any fan of Star Wars will enjoy seeing Palpatine seduce Anakin to the darkside and understand how and why he was able to destroy the jedi so easily.

Far better than the movie. Matthew Stover has written one of the best introductions/prefaces I have ever read. I get a tingle down my spine every time I read it.

Very different from watching the Lucas-marinated special effects orgy.  Eliminates all possible 'douche factor' from Obi-Wan Kenobi.
