A very good expansion of the movie. A few things take a slightly different twit from the movie but it is very close. It offers a better insight to the feelings of the characters and how manipulative the Emperor was. It takes a more indept look at Anakin's becoming of Darth Vader.

This is the VERY BEST Star Wars novel I have EVER read. If you didn't like the movie when you originally saw it, read this book and then see the movie again. It changes the entire movie when you know what's going on behind the scenes. Had Lucas used the book as his bible for the movie, the movie would very easily have been the best of the six Star Wars movies.

 This is the VERY BEST Star Wars novel I have EVER read. If you didn't like the movie when you originally saw it, read this book and then see the movie again. It changes the entire movie when you know what's going on behind the scenes. Had Lucas used the book as his bible for the movie, the movie would very easily have been the best of the six Star Wars movies. 

What's surprising is usually novelizations of movies are pretty bad, but this was superior in every way and again, is certainly the best Star Wars book I've EVER read, and I've pretty much read all of them, as some of my friends right here on Facebook can testify...   hide

I have someone else's copy of this book and I don't think they'll ever ask to have it back. I couldn't read past the prologue despite hearing that parts of the movie make more sense with the book's background. It reads like someone's fan fiction. It is happening as you read these words!* I rolled my eyes so often I could barely read it. Also, I snickered. A lot.

This book is AMAZING. Its written masterfully. If you have seen the movie, but havnt read the book, you dont know shit. Between the two jedi council meetings you didnt see, and the history of palpatine you didnt know, and anakins quest to save padme (which explains why he was pissed at the council for not making him a master) and the beautiful bond formed between boga and obiwan (yes, the...more
 This book is AMAZING. Its written masterfully. If you have seen the movie, but havnt read the book, you dont know shit. Between the two jedi council meetings you didnt see, and the history of palpatine you didnt know, and anakins quest to save padme (which explains why he was pissed at the council for not making him a master) and the beautiful bond formed between boga and obiwan (yes, the dragonmount is named Boga) this is one of the best reads i have ever experienced in my life. it was the perfect buildup for seeing the movie... which hardly touches on the amazing story that is star wars, but it was still amazing.   hide

I love this book, it explained so much more than the movie. And this was the first Star Wars book that I've read and I had re-read it and I loved it!
